Hi, I’m Sherry Cheng — a watercolor artist and instructor based in Raleigh, NC. I offer beginner-friendly watercolor classes that are gentle, inspiring, and full of heart. My teaching style encourages slowing down, paying attention to color, and enjoying the quiet, meditative beauty of the watercolor medium.I place special emphasis on color harmony, transparency, delicate brushwork, and emotional expression — helping students build a strong foundation and feel more confident with each painting.I currently teach at Wake Tech Community College, Clayton Community Center, and other local venues. I also host casual painting events and small-group sessions for those looking to explore watercolor in a peaceful, supportive setting.

Q1: Do I need any painting experience to join this class?
Answer:
Nope! This class is designed for absolute beginners. If you've never picked up a brush before, you’re in the right place. I’ll guide you step by step, and you’ll be amazed by what you can create.
Q2: What if I want to paint my own pet?
Answer:
That’s wonderful! If you’d like to paint your own pet, just email me a clear photo after registering. I’ll help guide you so you feel confident capturing their unique personality — or as I call it, their animalnality
Q3: What materials do I need to bring?
Answer:
You’ll receive a detailed supply list after registration. I’ll explain everything in class, so no need to stress. You’re also welcome to bring supplies you already have — I’ll help you make the most of them!
Q4: I’m nervous — what if I’m not “good at art”?
Answer:
Totally normal! This class is about the joy of painting, not perfection. I’ll guide you step by step in a warm, encouraging space — and you’ll be surprised how much you can do with the right support.
Q5: Can kids take this class?
Answer:
This class is designed for adults and teens age 18 and up. If you're looking for a class for younger children, feel free to email me — I offer family-friendly watercolor sessions too!
Q6: What if I have to miss a class?
Answer:
Life happens! If you miss a session, I’ll email you a recap and tips to catch up at home. If you're worried about missing more than one class, feel free to check in with me before registering.
Q7: How do I pay for the class?
Answer:
Once you register via email, I’ll send you payment instructions. I accept Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle — whichever is easiest for you.
Q8: Where is the class held?
Answer:
Classes are held in person at a beautiful clubhouse in the Raleigh/Cary area. It's a cozy, welcoming space that's perfect for creativity. The exact address will be shared once you're enrolled in a class.
